No. It could be that it has emotional meaning to you, but it has no purpose. Like for me- I quit smoking- the meaning would be that I decide it was not right for me- The purpose is to be healthier however- I did not have that purpose in mind when I quit. Every word in the dictionary has a meaning, but doesn't mean that every word has a purpose.

Chances are... the "something" probably has more purpose than meaning... at least in the short run.
Life is a continuing series of events, some of which provide us meaning.... and all of which have purpose. Meaning has to do with ones level of understanding, and is usually of a cognitive nature for those who live in the Left-Hemisphere of the brain, and of an emotional nature for those who are more open to their emotions.
Prior to experiencing at the "raw emotion" level, we experience at the level of "feelings".... or for the [L-H] person, they "think" about it. Each experience provides one with some level of understanding... if fortunate, this experience is taken to "heart" and increases ones emotional understanding, or empathy....which is the "meaning". Empathy is evidence of growth, and growth is the "purpose" of life.

Almost everything has meaning, and all people do. But not very many things or people have a purpose.

Yes.. otherwise it wouldn't HAVE meaning. Everything has a purpose, but not everything has meaning. BUT everything that has meaning has a purpose.
