That is still in the works. If you look at the current upper level steering currents, on its present track Chris will move into the southeastern Gulf and then be steered west. What I would be watching is what happens to the high pressure system over the Southeast. If it moves toward the east then Texas could experience some problems. If the high stays put, and Chris enters the Gulf, then my guess is that it will move west and it's anybody's guess. Now, having said all that, no self-respecting meteorologist will EVER project the weather more than three days out. So to get the best answer to your question, ask it again in two or three days, when Chris is closer to the US.

No. If it makes it to Texas it would be a hurricane, unless it wanders in as a fizzled out back to tropical storm levels. I guess we'll all find out what is going to happen next week.

If it decides to come this way: possibly. However, meteorologists have always been bad at determining where any tropical storm or hurricane will hit until 24 hours before it hits. And even then they've been wrong sometimes.
