It depends on when you want to get 'old'. You get old when you stop doing things that you do when you are young. Now, this is not to say that you should stay immature, irresponsible, or uneducated. These actions, although they are commonly associated to youth, ARE NOT youth. They are merely immaturity, irresponsibility, and ignorance. Feeling old, is a loss of youth, not a loss of those actions that are mistakenly associated with youth.

I'm sorry that you Mom does not see this. Maybe she is angry with other aspects of your life and is venting through your love of cartoons. If she is not, then you can try to explain to her that you really do enjoy them.

I'm 31, and I still enjoy the classics (for nostalgia mainly). Tom and Jerry, the roadrunner, and Buggs and Fudd were some of the greats. I really like the animated movies of today. It was a great idea for Hollywood to make kids movies that adults enjoy.

I'm 26 and my boyfriend is 25, and we both watch cartoons all the time. Technically they're adult cartoons that play on [adult swim] on the Cartoon Network, but they're still cartoons! I love Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021...

Even if they're regular cartoons, however, I still think it's ok. If some of the old cartoons that I watched as a child were still playing, I would watch them all the time! I think that your mom may not understand why you watching cartoons, because it's a generational thing. I think our generation is making it more acceptable for us to watch them. They create adult cartoons just for us, and it all started with the Simpsons some 20 years ago!

It might depend on what you are watching - Dora the Explorer might be a little sketchy, but most others are fine. Plus, there is an entire adult market of cartoons - isn't there a segment called "Adult Swim" on tv that is all cartoons for adults?

Besides, most adults read the newspaper comics - it's pretty much the same concept!

Maybe your mom is saying you shouldn't be watching them because you watch way too many or spend too much time watching them - if that's the case, then you should realize that there ought to be a limit on your cartoon watching! :)

Sure it's normal. Ask her why else does the cartoon channel have cartoons 24/7. Does she think small kids are watching at 2AM? This was actually a joke on TV last night. Seriously though... I'm 47 and still love all the old ones like Bugs Bunny, Popeye, etc... Tell your mom to get a life and stay out of yours a bit. After all... you are18. You're old enough to go to war and die so I'd think you're old enough to decide what you want to watch on TV. Most of what's on is garbage anyway. Just my opinion.

There is no age limit. I'm 42 and I still enjoy watching the old cartoons from the 70s. Great stress releaser.

Of course, I don't sit in front of the TV for hours every day watching them. That would not be normal.

There is no such thing as age limit on watching cartoons. I myself is still watching cartoons and there is nothing wrong about it.

I really don't agree with your mom. What does she want you to do, go out for a date and have sex? come on!
