In all sport performance enhancing drugs are being used but everyone who uses it in Baseball is so wrong. I mean get up to date now and realize that without STEROIDS sport will not go forward. Athlete's need it for Progression and to train the way they do.

I'm not a fan of the steroid guys, but I would much rather watch a game with a couple of homers than a game filled with bunts, hit and runs, and lots of singles.
John McGraw admitted 80 years ago that the hit and run style (or smallball, or whatever you want to call it) had run its course, and that boppers like Ruth and the guys that followed had changed the course of the game. I still like the guys who can get on base via the walk or hit, but I also like the guys who drive them home.
Also, it's not like swinging for the fences started with the steroid era. Home run totals were much higher in the '80s than the '70s, and it continued before the late '90s steroid times. Players have become better conditioned, they work out more, they eat better, and the teams invest more in their health.
As for the person who said that a solo homer doesn't help a team much - what's the difference between a solo homer and a run scored via a single, a sac bunt, and another hit? As far as I can tell, they both count for one run.
People need to get over the fact that baseball isn't the style they played on their little Strat-o-matic boards when they were kids. It has evolved like any other sport, and I think it's getting better all the time.

Classic baseball is much better. It's more cerebral and managers took more chances to try and manufacture runs, with more stolen bases, sacrifices, smarter base running, and contact hits. The drag bunt is a lost art nowadays (hell, the bunt in general is a lost art). There are too many solo home runs, which look pretty but don't always help your team much. Very few fielders really have the great arms we saw from some outfielders 20-30 years ago, or play smart defense (a bit different from good defense, as you can read the hitter and position yourself properly so you don't have to make diving/running/leaping catches as much). One of the few pluses now is that starters don't have to go the distance as much since teams have real bullpens with more specialty relief pitchers, as opposed to how it used to be. Most times, bullpens were stocked with guys who either weren't good enough to start or didn't have the stamina.

I think EVERYONE should be pumped up with steroids.
Break the season home run record in one game.
The good part is that steroids shorten your life, so, every 10 years or so, you'll need a new crop of players.
Everyone will attain their dream of playing in the majors.
Owners pay less as players don't last as long and the fans get new and exciting players all the time.
And the Promotions.
You could have Bat Day with Steroid Shot day (the first 20,000 fans 14 and older get a shot in the butt) By the time you get to the 7th inning, the fans (with their bats) will be attacking the opposition.
It'll be grand!

Like it or not Steriods saved the game back in 98. Now it seems like they're destroying the game. Anyway I prefer the classic baseball. Like the 75 Reds they had speed, contact, fielding, power and none of them used steroids.

just cause dudes are bigger don't mean they are on roids...players have learned about lifting...people have always thought baseball players shouldn't lift, that's changed though...
I like baseball period though...I like all around, 5 tool players that hit for average, power, have speed, can field and have arms. I miss watching Griffey and Bonds in their 20s. There aren't any young players too much like that right now...no speed in the game any more...
