Yes. Peyton Manning is going down the path that Dan Marino took around 20 years ago. Manning seems to outperform everyone in the regular season with stats that make your eyes pop, just like with Dan Marino's 5084 yard, 48 touchdown season in 1984. Manning has a comparably good season with 4557 yards and 49 touchdowns.
Unfortunately, in the playoffs, these two guys just don't perform as good. Marino took his team to the Super Bowl in 1984, but they lost because they didn't have much of a defense. Do the Indianapolis Colts sound like that? Yes.
Yes, you're right; Marino and Manning are two of a kind.
Hope that helps.

NO because Marino didn't have the team to go with it. Stop putting him down like that. As far as the records and no rings then yeah. Not sure that Manning will even GET to a Superbowl though, which will be less then Marino. Marino made it to one.

I think that Peyton Manning is going to be better than Dan Marino. He will get a ring before he retires and he will get more records.

What we have here is failure to know history/facts. Check the record books; Peyton's father did not suck. When his father played the Saints were pitiful (especially on defense). In 1979 or '80 Archie was Offensive Player of the Year.
Everyone can not win the title.
These athletes won only 1 title:
Willie Mays
Hank Aaron
Jim Brown
Jerry West
These athletes won none:
Ernie Banks
Elgin Baylor
Barry Sanders
Greatness is determined by stats and longevity. If you played hard and tried your best that all you can ask for.
Get the picture, cuz.

It sure looks like it so far. I think Peyton will be remembered as being a better QB than Marino though, whether he wins the big game or not. I guess we'll see after this season. Lots of people think the Colts have a shot again this year.

yeah, his stats are great, but even trent dilfer has a ring and he doesnt. last year i lost my mind and actually thought that he would win the super bowl, i quickly recovered after i saw him play so horribly against the steelers and remembered that he will never win a ring. this guy cant play in the playoffs, its like when they come he forgets everything hes ever learned.

It looks that way. And to the person who said Archie sucked, you'd better look again. This was the Saints of the 1970's! Bad coaching, horrible ownership and hapless organization. It wasn't all Archie's fault.
