I could only catch a few random bits of the lyrics. One bit of a verse is: "and you walked into the room..." and the chorus starts with something that sounds like "I had a DREAM OF what this world could be, if YOU WERE still here with me". (Caps b/c those words are really stressed).

I think it may be from the 70's or eighties, and it's a pop song.
The version I heard featured a woman's voice, but I think I may have heard the song covered on American Idol before... The song is up tempo.

I know this isn't a lot to go on, but I would really appreciate any help. This song has been stuck in my head for days and I have no clue what it is!

You might be thinking of "Band of Gold" by Belinda Carlisle, which was a remake of the Freda Payne original from the 70's.

I'm probably wrong though... but I tried!
