Well, I have a minimum standard that has to be met before anything else is considered. Let's say that is a 6/10. So I wouldn't necessarily pick a 9 over a 6 just because they are a 9, as long as she is a 6 or above looks no longer matter. I prefer a 9, but once you are at 6 or above I now start looking at other stuff.

Very. Men and women are attracted to physically attractive people. Anyone who says otherwise is full of poo. Being attracted to physically good looking people is normal, natural, and built into all humans. It may not be good, PC, or favorable to ugly people, but it is the way things are. This is why the beauty industry makes billions of dollars every year helping people look their best.

If you find yourself not being physically attracted to someone, but like them otherwise, you have a friend, not a romantic partner. Try sleeping with an obese person with a hairy back (male or female), bad teeth, and balding (again male or female), but with plenty of personality. Let me know how that works out for you.

I should point out that the flipside of your question is that personality is as important. If either looks or personality are missing I wouldn't even give them the time of day.

To some shallow people they may mean everything, but to me they mean nothing, sure a girl should look good, But i've always found myself attracted to people's personalities and turned off by hot girls with an attitude - If you truly like someone for who they are then that inner-being shines through and you see it as if were part of their exterior and thus:

'You don't love someone because they're beautiful, They are Beatiful because you love them'

And that's the Gods truth, in the end beauty withers away and all we're left with is the personality we chose to spend the rest of our life with :) . I find conceited women who the majority of people percieve as hot and who know 'they are hot' to be the biggest turn-offs of all because they are ugly on the inside, and when you look past the person on the outside you see the inside and you see that ugly person.

But obviously You cannot lie to yourself and would not spend your life with someone you found 'ugly' (that ugly world which is not a look but merely a perception) and so looks are what first attract a person and personality is what keeps them there - there has to be an element of physical attraction for the person to notice you and become interested in the first place. So Although no one should be shallow and I am not shallow, You and I, We are all human.

But ultimately I must be honest, and say that I would not date someone with buck teeth, disproportionate features, and lots of hair...so looks are indeed important to an extent because how can you fall in love, when you are repulsed by the thought of physically touching your partner? and be reasonable, you girls go straight for the hot guys anyway - the 'nice guys' end up finishing last.

Lets be honest with ourselves... all humans are shallow to an extent you go up to a woman who looks attractive. Then you find out what her personality is like.. but later on looks still are important but personality is more so.

Honestly at first very important. But different guys have different taste, there is no set definition of beauty. And msot guys will see beyond looks (good or not so good) very easily, if they can't you don;t really want anything to do with them anyway.

i would say that initially, they are very important. how a girl looks is what drives a guy to try to get to know her. however, once a guy has feelings for a girl, looks go out the window. if you love someone, you'll be attracted to them, even if they're not attractive.
