Windows XP Home Requirements:
• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
• 1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.*
• Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor
• CD-ROM or DVD drive
• Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
Here are Mozilla's minimum requirements:
Pentium 233 MHz
64 MB RAM
52 MB hard drive space
Just to surf the web using mozilla and that 256 MB would be fine. Just depends on if you want to spend the money on another stick of ram. The more ram you have the faster your computer will be but if all your going to use it for is the internet I wouldn't think that you need the other stick. And if you do add more RAM check out http://www.pricewatch.com , http://www.newegg.com , http://www.crucial.com/ , or http://www.tigerdirect.com for some decent prices.
Hope this helped.

I find that running XP with anything less than 512 is a like running a marathon with only one shoe, you will just limp along.

You should get 512. 128 is only needed, but I got 1gig because it just makes the performance so much better.
