I am married to a chap in the Army, and have served in the RN & RAF myself.
RAF are out of the country the least of the 3 - in an average year (at the moment) the RN are away 9/12 months, Army 6/12 and RAF 4/12.
But don't let that put you off - we have a very happy life and it makes the time we're together even more special. We communicate by forces aerogramme when we're apart which makes you write letters and is romantic in the way it was 50 years ago. We send each other little silly things and we always know that we're thinking of each other.
If you find someone you really love, time and distance is no object!

My Nan married my Grandad who was in the Navy, but she married him after the war finished. He's one of the loveliest men I know, but he's a bit deaf now, not that he can help it and this causes lots of arguments between my Grandparents now they're old. He's nearly 82 and she's 76 I think and they've been married over 50 years.
My Mum's ex husband (not my Dad) was in the Navy while they were together and she just said, well if he's gona stray, he's gona stray. You have to put trust in people. You never know what they're up to really. But my Mum always wrote him affectionate letters and as far as I know that worked. They broke up about 20 years ago though, but it wasn't because he cheated I don't think. He was just an ****.

Hey there, you know the situation going into the marriage if you do it, and you want to marry a navy man. He is committed to his country. I wouldn't mind marrying someone in our navy or in the military here in the USA...even though it would be hard when they are shipped out, I know they are proud to fight for their country. Good luck with what you decide.

True Love conquers all.
BUT Military men are famous for their charm and will say and do most anything to get you into bed, when they are on leave.
Oh and it is The ROYAL Navy, not The British Navy.
Plently of women get with men who work abroad or away , who are not military, its no different. If you love one another, it will last over the miles and through the test of time.
If in doubt..... DROP HIM.

The amount of time away depends on what they do, what their unit/ship does, how long they have been in the navy, their rank and how urgently they are required.
A high rank officer who is highly experienced will be away more than a lower level sailor.
