How can you gently tell a friend who you faded away from that their ex-boyfriend died a few years ago?

They broke up, but I remained friends with both of them until life kinda got in the way. The guy died of a heart condition while playing basketball back in '02. I tried to find the girl when I found out about it, but I couldn't contact her. Now, we have found each other through myspace. Do you think I should email her or wait to see if she brings him up?

TELL HER!!!! Yes, you're the bearer of bad news but she can't hate you for thinking its important she knows this guy passed on. Be compassionate and let her know you told her not to hurt her but because knowing how important he was to her, she DESERVES to know something this MAJOR!!!!! And let her know that you didn't because you couldn't find her and then you got scared.

Maybe try and contact her by phone because learning that type of thing is always better to do on the phone. The best is if you could meet her somewhere if you live close. If there's absolutely no way you can contact her physically or over the phone then yes send an email but that should be your last resort.

Maybe you should get her number and actually call and talk to her in person. Myspace can seem a little insensitive to break this sort of news.
