Don't talk such feckin' erse, to quote the man himself. Bob Geldof has more money than he can spend - he owned the television production company that made Big Breakfast (amongst others) and he sold it for more money that you have ever seen in one spot, or likely ever will. He is an honorary knight. At the time of Live 8 he had no books or records for sale so he didn't need promoting. Believe it or not, some people actually do act from altruism.

what is wrong with you

Bob geldolf didn't even really want to do live 8, but was pressured into it because of the important times.

He is a great man, who is doing what he can to bring attention to the world.

What was the self-serving purpose of it? Even if you can invent one, which is doubtful, i still don't care, because of all the good work he has done.

You are also talking about a man who took in a another couples child, and looked after (her?) when her famous parents both ended their lives.

Why would he want to promote himself Geldoff dosn't strike me as having many shortfalls. Possible pitch for the Nobel? No.

I think Geldof used Blair to promote Africa. Live 8 could not have happened without Blair's cooperation. Nothing 'revolutionary' happened at Edinburgh all the marches were organised and all the events were ticketed. It was streamlined and organised with such precision and it couldn't have gone ahead without massive cooperation from government.

But why would Blair want to put his back behind Geldof's African interests? No idea. Maybe the man genuinely does care? Maybe eh? Lets hope so.

Who really cares as long as Live Aid funds were truly directed at those in need. For example when most people donate to charity they accept a tax receipt. To those in need of help they don't worry about the politics of the aid , just the need.

Bob was made a chief in Ghana, which means they must have seen the effects of his efforts. Don't hurt him.

Whatever the reason he did Live Aid, it is something.
He didn't sit at his computer and ask stupid questions.
The world has enough armchair critics.
