That's an age old question that I wish I knew. They always all have different reasons.
Some are just cheaters, period. You know what they say, once a cheater, always a cheater. Those are the type that live by the mantra "What she doens't know wont hurt her." Those types are the worst (not that all aren't bad, because they are).
Some cheat because they are unhappy with their partner and are too uncomfortable to leave. This is common in married cheaters. They have been with their wives entirely too long and are to secure in their lives with their spouse and children, family, home, job, etc. to leave and start over. These types cheat and probably think the same thing ("What she doesn't know wont hurt her"). These types are pretty much cowards because they would rather be unfaithful than man up and either leave or fix the situation at home.
I could go on and on about the different types who cheat and why they do it but the bottom line is there is no excuse. What you have to realize is that it is NOT your fault. A person's (man or woman) reason for cheating can never be blamed on the victim. The only one to blame is the cheater. It's not something that you did or didn't do - that's just the kind of person this guy was, and that's not your fault. Don't beat yourself up thinking what you did wrong or what you could have done right because he is the one who did something wrong, not you. Would you really want to be with a guy like that?

I can't answer your question but, I can tell you I have done it two times and for me it was the excitement ... the thrill .... and the sex .... am I proud that I did it? NO! Guys are not the only ones that cheat a lot of ladies do it also. In my case both ladies were married and I still hear from both of them. Would I do it again? NO! in the long run it's not worth the pain.

Why do girls cheat?
Now, I am not saying that all girls cheat or all guys cheat, but those who do cheat cheat for several reasons.
Same reason as guys...
They might not be able to control their desire for lust, emotion, etc.
Maybe they want the excitement of doing something their not supposed to.
They may want to escape from their daily life.
Maybe it's their fantasy to have someone stable and someone on the side.
Maybe they're just jerks.
