My dear lady, Its not because you can't use eyeliner, its because you do not know how to use a eyeliner. Eyeliner defines the contour of your eye and gives it "Sparks". Choosing the right kind of eyeliner is important depending on what kinds of look you want to achieve. Pencil eyeliner gives you a softer look,so if you are working in the day time,go for a pencil eyeliner and choose the same colour as your eyeshaodow or use a light brown because brown is a very neutral color and it matches well with lots of eyeshadow colours but black is very harsh if you do not know how to blend it well.-(It will make you look fierce)
Same for liquid eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner gives you a more sophisicated look so if you intend to wear it at night for parties, liquid eyeliner is the best bet! But whichever type of eyeliner you use, make sure the line you draw is as close to your eyeline as possible and choose the eyeliner with the thinest brush so that it can glides smoothly on your eyeline. As how to apply a liquid eyeliner well, depends on experience.. So try it out at home for a few times and you will be a master at it... Remember using a eyeliner is a skill to be learned. Choose the colour closest to your eyeshadow and blend it well. Its important because you want to look sexy and sweet, not like a racoon.
Hope this helps-Carolina Tay

Using shadow as a liner is great! it's a much softer look. They even have special brushes that you use to dip in shadow and line your eyes.
However, if you think eyeliner is too dark, try using a lighter color, like gray or brown or plum, rather than blue or black. Also use a light hand, a very thin line right between the eyelashes, and only on the outside third of your eyelid. There is no need to completely rim your eyes in liner.

Because my eyes look practically non-existent without makeup, I’m always on the lookout for great shadows, mascaras and (particularly) eye pencils. I’ve been using my Bourjois double-ended liner (black on one end, white on the other) for ages, mixing it up occasionally with my Tarte double-ended liner. (What can I say? I guess I like more bang for the buck.) While I briefly dabbled in liquid liner, since I like how easily (if messily) it glides on, the entire effect was usually too vampy, and I prefer something that makes a nice, pigment-y line while still smudging effortlessly. So, I flipped when I tried Stila’s new Kajal eye liner pencil. It’s basically the best of both worlds: smudgable pencil that glides on like a liquid. No muss, no fuss, just a perfect, easy-to-draw line. At least for the time being, I’ve found a new favorite.

I've used eye shadow for liner for years with no problem. There've been times when I wet the brush before I apply the shadow as liner & it gives a much more defined look to the liner.
There are a ton of colors available in eye shadow pencils; you might try using some of those as liners. I know Avon has a good line of them & the Wet & Wild ones are pretty decent if you want to try "cheap"!!

Eyeshadow looks really nice as eyeliner, and it gives a really soft look. But you can wear normal eyeliner without looking like a racoon. First try a different color...don't use black...it's so harsh! Try a soft brown, or black brown. These colors seem "black" but actually look soft around the eyes. And use a sponge or q-tip to blend it a little bit. As for the eyeshadow, use a thin angled brush, or a small, flat brush. They give a really nice look.

I love using this technique. I'll line the bottom of my eye using the liner that I am using on the bottom of my lid. I usually blend a second colour into the first colour mid way up my lid too. It's good fun!

If you use a small angle brush, it helps to get nice detailed lining under your eyes with a powder. What you're doing is not harmful. I've found that powder usually stays on better than liner itself.

No eyeshadows just as close to your eyes as eye liner. But eye liner is a little closer so if you ask me i think eye shadow for liner is alright for ur eyes.

What you're doing is perfectly alright, but I love using Silky Girl's Eyelighter. It's an eyeliner but it comes in sparkly shades! A great deviant away from the regular solid colours!

Not bad for your eyes at all. I've heard it's better than eye liner as far as eye health goes. I use eye shadow as a liner as well.
