I have lost around 30 kilos in the last two years. There are various weight-loss support groups, but most of them prefer proper English rather than txt msgs.
Base your diet around whole grains, vegetables and fruit, with some protein and unsaturated fat, and as little saturated fat, sugar and alcohol as you can manage! Don't try to be perfect, either - eating well 80-90% of the time is fine! Don't ban any food, but do consider carefully whether a given "treat" is worth the calories - all of us find that some things are!
Many of us find that if, as a rule of thumb, we fill half our plate with vegetables and 1/4 with starchy carbohydrate, the rest doesn't matter very much!
Other things that help are:
- keeping a food journal - if you write down everything you eat an drink as you have it, you can't kid yourself that you are eating "nothing".... our memories do like to play tricks on us!
- drinking at least 2 litres of water a day, which is incredibly good for your body even if you aren't trying to lose weight. But it really helps your system work properly, and keeps your metabolism boosted, so it's particularly important when you are.
- exercising regularly (yes, I know, that's the hard bit!). No need to spend hours in the gym unless you enjoy doing that - even just going for a walk is better than nothing!
- setting up a system of rewards (nothing mega - things like giving yourself a facial, or buying a new shower-gel, or whatever) for each milestone reached, whether that is the next half-stone marker in your weight-loss journey, or having taken exercise five times in one week, or whatever.
- making a commitment to keep on keeping on, no matter how long it takes, no matter how many times you fall off the wagon (you will! We all do!), no matter how many times you have a breather while on holiday, and so on....

The only real way to lose weight is to burn more calories through exercise than you take in through eating. Ideally don't eat too much (although eat enough to stay healthy) and take exercise everyday. Even if you're not fit you can go for walks and the like. The healthier you eat and the more exercise you take the more weight you'll lose, you'll feel fitter and healthier aswell which is always good. Also, if you eat small amounts regularly throughout the day you'll speed up your metabolism helping to burn energy. Try to stay away from sugary things aswell, although it's not that easy!
And remember - all fad diets such as atkins are a waste of time, eat a balanced diet or it will affect your health!

Most importantly stay away from soda, coffee, and caffeinated drinks. You may not realize it but thats where most of people's extra weight comes from. Drink water and juices (make sure they're 100% juice, not cocktail juice because that's mostly sugar) and exercise about 4 days a week. You can just take a long walk to exercise, or go to the gym. Yoga and pilates are also good ways to burn calories.

Yes, I fallowed Atkins diet but with a doctor supervision.
I cut of sugar, refined carb, ate more vegetables; less sugary fruits.
Drink a lot of water, some teas, like green tea.#
And begin exercising, biking, walking, etc.
It took me almost 3 years (I lost almost 150 kilos) and was like 10 years ago, I still maintain my weight, haven't won, instead I always loose a little more,
But more that a diet, it is changing your eating habits.... and your life style!

I weighed myself for the first time since stopping the gym last week (my ideal weight is 8st 8lb, and i have always been this or lower). I weighed myself and i was 9st 6lb!!! but i had not felt any bigger or gone up a dress size, nor were my clothes tight.
I jumped on the slimfast diet and I lost 6lb last week and aiming to lose the rest this week!
The chocolate shakes are lovely and some of the snaks bars and crisps are lovely too.

Switching to a vegetarian diet (while still eating some eggs, cheeses etc.) and exercising 4-5 times a week will put you at or near your ideal weight, probably.

ive lost 3 stone but i did it slowly over 6mths. i only had one large meal a day. I actullay had 3 meals but two of them would be small, i.e tuna or sald etc, then i would have a healthy main meal at tea time. I also started walking a lot more. I didnt bother joining a gym or anything because i would only go once or twice then give up whereas walking is a convenient and cheap method of excerise

Weight watchers is good and pretty easy to follow but it has to be a lifestyle change not just a diet otherwise you'll put it back on again as soon as you think you've lost enough.
