Yes, you will have your saved files on the older hard drive. You will need to catch this before it totally crashes. My suggestion is that 9if you are running XP) run the File and Settings Transfer Wizard (start > programs > accessories > sys tools) and export them. Then put the new drive in, install XP and run the same wizard again, this time importing from the file you exported to. This will give you all the files / settings you had on the old drive.

hope this helps....

Sorry to say no, You will need to start over as the hard drive holds all the files on your PC. Try getting professional help before you think about upgrading because the problem might be smaller than you think.

That depends if you transfer the files over to the new hard drive. If you get the new drive and reinstall Windows, then just transfer the files you need from the old drive, that will work fine. It's hard to tell what could be wrong...more info would be helpful.

You don't say how computer savvy you are, but if the problem is based in spyware bogging your computer down, I highly recommend a site called Tweak XP. Don't let the XP fool you, it's for all operating systems.

It doesn't cost anything but you will have to signup. After that, follow their onscreen directions EXACTLY to clean your computer.

What they will have you do is download free programs that will check, uncover, fix, eliminate and then protect your computer from spyware and viruses. It takes some time to download it all, but it is definitely worth it.

Good luck.
