Do you want to know about the chemicals in snake venom?

There's also something called the "Snake Formula" which is used in mathematical modeling . . . and I've seen references to it as a means of mixing up competitors in sporting events.

Snake oil, or snake formula is just a term referring to a solution that doesn't do what it is advertised to do. For example, like a preparation claiming to cure arthritis.
