not a good idea at all if its a busy pub with lots of residents that are binge drinkers or thugs..but some pubs don't attract such anti social drinkers so it does depend on the area and the clientelle.

the first house I bought was 3 doors down from a village pub. There wasn't that much noise and after living there a couple of weeks I got used to it.
Think it depends on the type of pub, the opening hours and the area.
If you are about to buy a house next to the roughest pub in the area then open your eyes look around and then RUN
if on the other hand you are buying a nice little house next to a village pub in a quiet area - why not.

I would check out for a few weeks first, especially at the week-ends. Don't forget the fact that if it's a nice pub now that does not mean that it will stay that way. All it needs is a change of landlord and you could be in a living hell. The way pubs are changing hands at the moment is unbelievable. I would give it a wide berth.

Bad idea. Unless you like getting your house windows broken every Friday and/or Saturday night, your car getting constantly vandalised, people throwing up in your garden and drunken yobs swearing and waking you up at 2 am in the morning. I live 1 mile away from the nearest pub, and I do NOT want to live any closer thank you.

If your very sociable and like to visit the pub then OK if you don't then maybe not the best plan. It may be worth visiting the pub a few times to see what the clientele are like and how busy it gets. Visit on a few different nights to get an all round picture.

Prices are cheaper for a reason. I think it would be outrageously INCONVENIENT for you. Lots of noise, dirtiness and maybe a lack of security in the neighborhood, don´t you think so?
I firmly believe you need to consider other options.
Good luck!

Just remember that when the smoking ban comes along, there will be a load of oafs standing around the door smoking.
