I know there's a place in Sicily called Corleone where there are lots of reports of gangster behaviour. I've heard there's gangs that also hang about in parts of mainland Italy. But where are the majority of the gangsters? I went to Venice this month and didn't see any gangstery looking types, maybe it's because the area's too commercial. But anyway, can anyone enlighten me on this subject?

well I live in Sicily and my husband is in the navy and he works with Italian citizens and they have told us that Italian gangsters (mob) are originally from a city called Palmero. it not like a "gang" so to speak its more of a family thing, but I have been there and I'm quite sure they are everywhere on this island but they haven't stood out to me yet. but there is strange behavior out in the bigger cities here that are kind of suspicious. I don't know if this helped you or not, but I TRIED

Hey just be careful here with that sort of question, my lot come from Villa Latina in Italy and they might be reading this, a gangster is a gangster and I really would not know what one looks like, maybe they are just ordinary booted and suited guys on the streets, same as the ones in this country probably hey.

What is a 'gangstery looking type'? Don't go by stereotypes. Besides, if someone dressed like a gangster they would probably be arrested so they wouldn't.You probably did see some

The Mafia originate from Sicily. There are also gangs which originate from Napoli. These gangs used to run tobacco smuggling routes througout Europe and have worked with the Sicilian Mafia to help smuggle Heroin and its ingredients, apparently.

Just because they don't dress , or act like the stereotypical gangster, that doesn't mean that they are not.You can't go by looks alone.
