DSL

it has the steadiest connection and the upload is way better than cable

cable is shared by your whole neighborhood and the speed varies + upload is HORRIBLE

and to the moron that said cable is much faster
um...
ya if you had a 1 megabit connection it would be
go with 6 mb/s and you wont be complaining, it is also cheaper than cable

and to the moron below me
upload does NOT depend on the computer

Cable is the better choice for many reasons.

Cable runs directly through fiber-optic cable. DSL runs by satellite. Depending how close you are to their satellite, depends on the speed you get, whereas cable you get the same speeds all the time.

Cable is able to provide much more faster speeds than DSL. Most DSL speeds are rarely upgraded by the provider, whereas cable providers are able to continue to update them frequently.

Cable companies invest more money into their broadband network than phone companies do. Investing more money in a network, means better results and increased reliability.

Cable Internet rarely goes down, with the exception of maybe a thunderstorm here and there. DSL has a much better chance with the satellite getting hit by lightning.

These were all factors that made me choose cable. Cable may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Cable I pay 40 bucks a month. constant 4 meg download speed.
Upload speed depends on your computer as well as your internet connection. I'm not sure what my upload speed is though.

Don't listen to the DSL guys. I have a friend that had to leave Cable and go to DSL because he moved. He says DSL is worse than dial up at least dial up has a reason for being slow.

Depends on your area and how much you want to pay. DSL runs off of your telephone line and is usually cheaper. Cable runs off of the cable TV lines so it can be faster but the speed will be downgraded during peak TV watching hours.

I have DSL at 3.0Mbit down and 386-512Kbit up for $17.95 a month.
