From the extension you have given, I think, you are talking about a report generation program. That program should have options for Text output. Check with that program.

Depends what type of file the .RPT extension is applied ... there are a lot of programs generating files of this extension, for many it's simply an ASCII text file and you can open it with either Notepad or Wordpad ... or DOS Edit ... whatever suits your fancy.
Otherwise you'd need to supply us with more specifics on the file ... i.e. what program created it ... before we can offer more advice.
