After recharging overnight, I tried a soft reset. Now I still have the Fatal Alert message with "Starter.cpp,Line:189,can't mount slot. RESET. Have I lost all of my data? I have Hot Synced some of it? Should a try a RESET? Is the Palm ruined?

Have you try another battery? It might just be the problem

Apparently this is an issue that may happen on the Palm Z22. You will need to do a HARD RESET which will get your unit to the way it was when you got it. That means that if you have not sync'd the unit recently, you will lose all data. FYI, SOFT RESET does not erase any data. It is important to sync your Palm regularly. I do it at least 3 times per week, sometimes more.

Once you do a HARD RESET (which you can do by clicking on the reset button and holding the power button then choosing Yes at the prompt), your Z22 should be back to normal.
