Yes, I have very fine hair that drops in damp weather, so every now and then, about twice a year I have a light "body" perm that helps to keep my hair in shape. Done professionally the perm does not damage your hair and If you use a good leave-in conditioner as well the hair looks great. I would never go for one of those tight curly or spiral perms as I do think the hair can get damaged.

Yes, a long time ago. Interesting story: I was born with poker straight hair, and when I was in late junior high, I wanted curly hair. I got the perm, which was pretty awful and made me look ridiculous for a while (but hey, it was the 80s. Lots of people looked ridiculous).
Then, over time, I grew my hair out quite long (halfway down my back). When I got sick of that, in college, I had several inches cut off. I told the stylist not to bother drying my hair since it was warm outside. By the time I got home, my hair, which had been mostly straight when it was long, was now CURLY.
So, somehow, between middle school and college, my hair naturally turned wavy/curly (maybe due to hormones??). It was just so long that the weight of the hair was pulling out the curl.
And that's how it remains to this day. Curly.
No more perms for me! ^___^

Yes it was supposed to be a soft perm and ended up where i looked like i had a flat head on top and a fan at the bottom kind of like an upen fan upside down. And all because i went to a cheap hairdresser and paid about 70% less for my perm which proves you get what you pay for. I had to wait two months and then went to another hairdress to get my hair relaxed (reverse perm)

Yes I've had a few perms- they turned out nice but you go through some awkward phases as the perm is growing out.

In the early 90's everyone in my class had a perm, I had quite a few. Good for a giggle now! Stick with straight nowadays although I can't do a thing with it. The joys of fine hair

Yes, I have. Back in 1990. But the cutting wasn't layered and I looked like a toadstool. And my hair became greasy equally quickly while the end became dry. It didn't work for me.
My eldest daughter used to have mild waves, but after her first period it became very curly within a month or so.

Yes. I'm thinking of getting one now, but i wouldn't let it stay as it dried. i would let it dry naturally, then using a curling iron make the curls bigger, as if I had used heated rollers, then comb it out, and make it look great. It doesn't look old fashioned or as if i'm an oldy. At least I hope not, it's been a while since I did it.
