Nearly all e-mail programs use POP3 (“post office protocol”) that allows e-mail programs to find and retrieve Web-based e-mail from Yahoo and Hotmail accounts (some providers charge to access your accounts from an e-mail program).

If you use Yahoo mail, Outlook can download your messages, with the aid of another program. One such program is YPOPs. This free program lets you download e-mail from Yahoo accounts to email clients like Outlook, Netscape, Eudora, Mozilla, etc. www.ypopsemail.com
