Okay, I'm going to assume your question is serious and not specious.

One: monkeys are on a different branch than the ape/hominid line which led to us; but let's assume that we're talking about the apes.

One thing most people who jump up and down about evolution don't understand is that there is NO specific endpoint to selection. The universe didn't wake up one morning and decide to select a human. Instead, there were circumstances all throughout time which selected for particular survivable types.

BTW - there WERE up until very recently different types of man. It was only within the past 25000 years or so that we, the ones we designate - Homo sapiens - were the only types of man left on the planet. Our family tree shows a lot of side branches and it's not just a straight line as some have believed. You can check here for some quick notes on that: http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/biology/humanevolution/

We're actually the last of a group of relatives - in fact, DNA shows that at one time, we were only about as common as the orangutan is today - pretty much an endangered species, but we managed to make it thru that bottleneck, to breed our way out of it and to have about 6.5 billion on the planet today.

Okay - let's get to your question specifically. Can the apes alive today evolve toward something we would consider to be man? I, personally, would say it's possible, but not likely. If I had to pick a candidate for one that might become an ancestor of a new sort of man, I'd say that it might be the bonobo or chimp. They seem to be less specialized feeders than are the gorilla or orang or simiang, etc., and so there might be more chance of selection to work on them, if the environment necessitated a change in direction of that selection.

However, the other thing you need to understand is that selection likely never comes up with exactly the same thing twice, though it can get things very similar if that selection is something determined by physical factors -- note the similarity in body shapes of a dolphin, shark, icthyosaur -- all unrelated forms which evolved similar body types in response to having to move thru water at high speed.

We evolved to walk upright way before we were "human", The reasons we evolved that upright two-legged stance are still a source of discussion.

You have been miserably informed on your topic. Man never evovled from ape. They have a common ancestor and it is still a debated topic. So there is no possibility of the monkeys evolving into man2.........Bye

first let me say i do not believe that man came from monkeys, but man 2 as you call it is already here and it is man him self who is changing we have become taller and smarter than we were 50 years ago and since the theory of evolution is change in a species that means man is changing evolving making him self better soon we will be able to make man in our own image by this i refer to cloning im my mind all these things add up to man 2

You have been miserably misinformed. Man did not evolve from ape; man and ape descended from a common primate ancestor. It may be possible that today's primates will evolve into a higher form of life, but that is not predictable.

possible...but you do know how we became humans right? Strangely it's caused by a mild defect in the shape of our skulls. Maybe another breed of monkey might just evolve into another form of humans someday.

We already occupy the smart ape niche, and no other organism can successfully invade our turf.
