I need to find a good bedding for my guiena pig, the pet stores here only sell pine/cedar beddings, any suggestions?
There also isn't any fresh hay around.
My poor guiena pig needs your help. Please?

There is NOTHING wrong with pine and/or cedar shaving.
Corn cob pellets are a good option as well if they are available locally.
Hay is not a bedding, it is a feed.
Straw is a bedding material.
Buy whatever you can get locally and save a fortune in shipping charges.

Try some carefresh bedding. They have at least two different kinds that I've used, one is white (good for monitoring the urine if you have a sick animal) and another is kind of gray, they have kind of a strange texture but they're safe for animals.
Most pet stores sell hay. I'm not sure where you live but they always have some at Petco, Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus etc.
If you can't find a good store around you, try the internet and maybe they can ship some to you.

http://www.chinworld.com - They'll help you get quality hay
http://www.bunnybunchboutique.com/HayFoodnew.html - Good hay and such there too
I hope that helps, keep looking!

I use recycled newspaper pellets, or corn cob pellets. Either of these can be bought over the Internet from Petsmart. Enter that into your search engine. Stay away from Cedar. In every book i have ever read about guinea pig care it warns that the cedar shavings are the worst because of the oils and odors, They can make your pig very ill, or kill it. Hope I helped.

Pine and cedar are both bad for small animals as the oils in them can cause extreme allergic reactions. I would order some CareFresh and/or aspen (I actually use a 50/50 mix of the two) online if the local stores don't sell them.

I would avoid the pine and ceder. I haven't found any concrete evidence myself as to whether they're as bad as everyone says they are, but even at the Petsmart I work at, we use Aspen or Carefresh for our animals. Both are more expensive than pine, and I know they wouldn't pay the extra money unless they thought it was worth it.
You might be able to order something like Carefresh online. I did a quick search and found http://www.arcatapet.com
You could also try http://petsmart.com I know they ship, I just don't know where you live.
Carefresh and Aspen are all I'm willing to use too. In the meantime I could go with the pine but avoid the ceder.

GO to a farm feed/supply store to buy a bale of shavings at a quarter the price of what you pay at a pet store. Stop at any farm on the way and ask for a flake of hay. One flake will last you a few months and is healthier then anything sold at pet stores.

Yes! It's called Care Fresh. It's a recycled material and it's better for small pets than the other stuff. My guinea pig loves it.

Lesson #1: U use STRAW not hay for the animals to lay in, straw has no nutritional value, hay does.
I don't know about the bedding options but what is wrong with cedar????

you can try to just go pick some fresh grass from the yard, that works well too.
