I guess we would all be dead from electrocution if copper was to be left bare without coating. Thus Non-conductible flexible materials have been very useful coating materials.

as we all know... copper is a metal. metals are good conductor of heat and electricity. in an electrical equipment , copper conducts electricity from one point to another. non-metals are used as coating for copper since non-metals are good insulators of electricity.
