I used to be the roommate of Oscar Lua #45 MLB USC Trojans. I asked him the same question about my son. He told me all kids should tryout for QB first and MLB second because those positions teach you everyone else's position and help you know what's happening on the field. I hope this helps you.

I have to say either WR or DB because your to small to play TE. If you say you can catch and good at pass coverage than you better won't any probelm doing good. Also their is more to being a WR than just catching the ball and pass coverage for a DB. Like for a WR you have to first run the right route and for a DB you may need to tackle a person but for both you need great awarness because if you don't have that you are going to be a lot of trouble. Well, good luck.

Wide receiver / DB - Hit the weight room! You need to build your upper body strength as well as you leg power. I was about your size at that age, but wasn't as fast. I got crushed playing MLB and ended up as an OLB with limited success. If you can get up to 170 by your sophmore year & keep your speed you could end up choosing to be a MLB or staying at WR.

If you have a good arm, you might try out for QB, but ususally the QB is slotted very very early.

Not TE way too small! I was 6'0 195 and played TE! I think you should stay on DEF corner or saftey! Learn to get physical and use your speed to cover and then once your there punish the WR! *I always wanted to be a LB or DB so that I could hit people instead of be hit all of the time!*

I would defenitly say you are best suited for either safety spot. Maybe a cornerback if your 40's good. but tight end is out of the ? unless you add 50 pounds. WR needs to have good vertical and soft hands, which it doesn't sound like you have. The main thing is you need to know the team and the needs of the team. Say if they are in desperate need of a linebacker, bulk up and go for weak side or mike backer. Seriously though safety would best suit you.

Safety

Free safety if your pass coverage is better.

Strong safety if your run-stopping and tackling is better.

Go with the WR if you can jump. If you want to play defense than go safety.
