how people cleared their IAS examintion?

by really really working hard..that means giving up addictions like answering questions on YA ....or even asking them
shutting yourself up in a room with all the relevant books , newspapers and encyclopedias
avoiding girlfriends/boyfriends/ keeping friends to the absolute necessity only /meeting family on sunday during lunch time and not watching soap operas.....really they dont help at all in an IAS exam !
