I think it's a few different factors:

1. Distance: A lot of celebrities spend time away from home on movie sets, touring, etc. so it's difficult to keep up the consistency and intimacy of a close relationship-- not seeing each other for lengthy periods of time would put on pressure.

2. Media Interference: It's difficult to share quality time together or resolve any marital issues when the media is constantly in your face, creating rumours about the other spouse, etc. which would only cause more conflict.

3. Arrogance: Celebrities are often too busy looking after and thinking about themselves to be able to spare the time of day that it takes to maintain a marriage-- to share your life with someone is a big thing, which can take sacrifice and selflessness- many celebrities have been brought up in a world where they NEED to be selfish in order to fulfill their needs.

4. Reason for marrying in the first place: A lot of marriages are done to boost a person's social status and to increase media coverage of them- marrying for the wrong reasons is a sure-fire way to a broken marriage.

5. Marrying too soon: Unlike non-celebrities, a lot of celebs are able to afford to get engaged and have a wedding really early in the piece. This, combined with pressure from the media and those around them could easily result in them engaging in a relationship which they weren't really ready to maintain for their entire lives-- we've all been caught up in those *magical* first few months of a relationship, where all you think about is being together forever and getting married- but unlike celebrities, we don't really have the opportunity to act on these thoughts... which is usually a good thing, as they don't last most of the time.

Because I'm sure in many cases these relationships are based upon SUPERFICIAL factors (i.e., looks, "star power", wealth) - and not on the REAL PERSON beneath the all-important "image". As a result, these marriages often start to fizzle once that image begins to become tarnished by reality.

And remember, when you got TWO super-size egos at odds, there is less likely to be compromise. It's easier for them to just walk away rather than to stick with a commitment.

It seems like to be a celebrity, you need to be completely self-absorbed, and that doesn't really make for a happy marriage. There's also the constant scrutiny from the media, and the paranoia factor that probably goes along with it when your spouse is on the cover of US Weekly every other day, with headlines screaming that they are cheating on you.

Basically being the celebrities both of them are independent .They dont have any compulsary bond to retain thier marriage relationship. Moreover ,the other most important thing is EGO which obviously common to all celebrities.
In addition to that less commitment to the family also leads to more problem in the family.
Furtherrmore comparision withothers & so on........

there is too much pressure on them...then the tabloids exploit any little problem that happens in their relationship and I'm sure that doesn't make it any easier to help them reconcile the problem.

Not to mention their agents and managers often have certain images that they want the celebrities to portray and these images often mean changing personalities, or looks, and just like people change from adolescents to adults and fall in and out of love with different people as their personalities develop...celebrities are constantly experiencing these changing personalities so it makes it hard to maintain a constant relationship as the two people that fell in love grow apart from each other quickly.

Not to mention when they have to go on the set of a movie for a long time or on tour, they often have to be apart for extended periods of time...

just like any long distance relationship, it puts a lot of stress on the couple...and they are constantly meeting new people and when they get back to their loved ones, one or both of them have probably changed.

Obviously there are a variety of answers. They include
(a) easier availability of divorce
(b) availability of lawyers who encourage litigation
(c) heavy personal appearance schedules invade privacy
(d) "groupies" put extra pressure on fidelity
(e) infidelities become more quickly known -- difficult to keep secret
(f) celebrity personalities are often not sufficiently mature to handle probems with marriage.
(g) PR, agents and others may be opposed to marriage

Probably the main reason is that they are separated a lot of the time from each other.

Celebrities are always working some where and usually not together and because of this the relationship doesn't really have a chance to grow.

Celebrities that work together on a regular basis get to spend more time together and really be a family because it doesn't really matter where you live as long as your together.

Of course they don't. There is are too many rumors flying around about one or the other. I would think it to be kind of hard to ignore them. I believe the rumors could cause alot of arguments between celebrity couples.

There's too much pressure especially if you're a celebrity since everything is always under a microscope and everyone wants to know EVERYTHING.

it's hard to maintain any marriage/relationship especially ones that are under pressure from media scrutiny and theres also the case where one partner is more famous/successful than the other jealously would put any relationship under pressure therefore it don't always last especially in hollywood
