I was on my way to work listening to Howard Stern. I at first thought it was a joke, but found out soon enough, it wasn't.

At work in Hillside, NJ (within visual range) at my desk. (I was a buyer for a paper wholesaler at the time). My co-workers and I immediately rushed to the roof of our warehouse to see the actual sight. We were about 10 miles away with a clear view of the NYC skyline. We could see a lot of smoke. We watched the second plane come in and then all rushed inside, not knowing whether that would be the end of it...
Another coworker had a small mini-TV (like a 3" screen) which we tuned to the network news for the remainder of the morning.
We all left work early that day, to avoid traffic that we knew would back up around the area.
I held a candlelight vigil on my streetcorner with my neighbors that evening.
REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2001!

Hi, I live in Russia. That day I was having fun at a birthday party. We turned on the TV and found out. I must confess - I was 13 and very anti-American back then and I was quite happy that "those yankee bastards finally get what they deserve". I feel very ashamed for that now that I have some good sense.

I was in school, 3 blocks away...listening to the newsreports on tv...Good thing my homeroom didn't have a veiw of the towers, cause some people said they saw jumpers...it wasn't fun. We had to evacuate. All the students felt the ground shake when the tower fell. I couldn't get home til 5 because subway lines weren't running.
the truth behind 9/11....

I was in Hauppauge NY when it happened (only an hour and a half away). I went to work that morning and heard it on the radio. We didn't do much work that day. They were going to get ready to evacuate us at the time because we were one of the major Business Industry Parks on Long Island and they had suspicions that we were a target.

i live on the west coast...so i was just waking up to my alarm clock and these frantic phone calls were being made by these hysterical people from my area into the radio station. i didnt understand what was going on - so i went downstairs and both television sets were on....we also kept the radio on....i remember distinctly hearing from this national broadcast that all flights were being cancelled and landing...and if any airplanes were still in the air, they'd be shot down. obviously, this was in the heat of all the action (before the towers fell)

I was in an AOL chat room when someone mentioned it. When they said it was the WTC, I thought to myself that it was impossible. Planes don't fly over NYC. This must have been right after it had happened because I went on CNN.com and didn't see anything about it.
I called my friend who was at home to see if he was watching the news and as we were on the phone he saw the second plane hit the building.

I had just returned from my final field training exercise in Army Basic Training and were about to transition to the MOS phase of our training.( I was in OSUT) My platoon and I were all cleaning our gear and preparing for an inspection when our Drill Sgts told us that we had 2 minutes to get to the bleachers. We were all sitting down thinking that they were going to have a "health and welfare inspection" in the barracks. Instead, they informed us of the attacks on that day.Boy were we pissed, it really hit home for us because at that moment we all knew that we were going to war. Training took on a whole new meaning from that point forward. Sure enough, within months, some of the guys in my platoon had gone to Afghanistan, and presently, as far as I know all of the guys I went through training with including myself have done at least one tour of duty in Iraq.

I was on vacation from work. I was in my home, doing house cleaning. I turned on the television to check the weather for the day, on the Weather channel. By then, all of the stations were covering the attack.

I was waking up for school when my dad turned on the radio and told me that two planes had crashed into a building in NY. They had know about it the night before (Aussie time), when the show they were watching was interupted by live news flashes on the t.v.
