If you just cut it off, the fabric will fray and it won't last through the wash. Use a ruler to mark the fabric on the inside. Leave at least 1 1/2 inches for a new hem. Draw a line. Cut. Fold the fabric under 1/4 inch. Press. Then fold it up 1 inch. Press. Stitch in place or iron it down with Stitch Witchery.

ok.so then your a bit like me i could give you tips..i do alot of diy myself.ok um......ok so il give you some stuff you'll need:
1.chalk 2.a ruler 3.pair of scissors 4.an iron 5. some sticky tape. ok so what you'll have to do is turn your skirt inside out, then you fold the hem of the skirt in to the desired lengthwen its folded(it should look like a cuff or something like that)then place u ruler against the cuff(the cuff should be thicker than the width of the ruler) so that the space beneath the ruler you can mark with the chalk, just follow th eruler and draw a straight line on both sides of the skirt then you follow the line and cut along the line but making sure u dnt cut the sides, you're only cuttin the cuff, so the only thing that should come off are two strips of material which are separate not joined so this means you'll have to do the cutting separately, one at a time. so after that is done keep the thin cuff that is left iron over it several times so when u turn it over u know one will know there's a cuff underneath, then(heres the funny part) u take the sticky tape an d stick it against the end of the cuff tightly so when touched by water it wont come off, but make sure its not thick(remember to do it on both sides then u turn your skirt over to what everyone else will see and iron as hard as u can over that section several times till you're sure no1 will notice what uve done on the other side.if you have problems just hit me back.

You treasure your home? Well then keep the scissors away from the curtains, you freakin' Isaac Mizrahi wannabe! You should go to a pattern store like Michael's Fabrics or Joann, and get a pattern for cutting a short skirt. They are dirt cheap and you already have the scissors, the cost is next to nothing.

Ok if you dont sew tho, there is this stuff called NO SEW!! it is so and you iron it on. A lot of ppl use it to make pretty stuff on Quilts. you can go to some quilt sights and they will know what it is and every thing. but its like 50 cents for what you would need.I wish I knew how long your skirt was. I would try to cut it off above the knee about 5 inches and then add some hanging beads or some other trim
