,,,right knee. I've heard there are later complications, like pain for months, and having to learn how to walk differently....and sometimers, you have to stay off your feet for a week or two.

I've had the surgery done twice, fifteen years apart. You should be up walking the day after surgery. Within a week you should only have occasional pain and full use of your knee. The worst thing to do is "baby" your knee definitely do not stay off it for a week or two. Your surgeon should be able to tell you exactly what he/she expects as far as your mobility.
