First use hot water (not very hot) for lowering pain.
use cream, soft food, dont stay sitting long time.

Don't sit for longer than an hour or so before going for a quick wander - exercise can bring surprisingly effective relief. I've been told gentle massage will help too.
Keep the area clean.
Use Anusol.
I heard of one woman who used frozen peas - I daren't ask exactly what she did with them though!
And most important:
drink sufficient (read lots of!) water and eat fibre to prevent constipation. If this still doesn't help, and you find yourself straining anyway, then there are techniques out there (certain body movements) that can help encourage it - ask your doctor.

Preparation H, Anusol, etc.Surgery in the extreme.Prevent constipation and this can help.Buy some Lactulose or similar at your chemist,this keeps motions soft and prevent straining which will excacerbate piles....

Hi,
I found a tub of cream of calamine was the best to ease them.
Prep H etc didn't work for me, so give it a try.

don't sit down as much, try getting up to do some housework rather than sitting watching Kilroy!!! ha ha only messing, there are some great creams on the market!

i have them once..nasty. i was told not to eat any spicy foods as this makes it worse. i bought some preparation h cream and it cleared it up! you can get this in any chemist. good luck and also invest in a rubber ring!
