The Smithsonian American History Museum in Washington DC has Dorothy's red shoes from the Wizard of Oz. (One pair at least)

The Holocaust exhibtion at the Imperial War museum in London has a whole war made of shoes taken from the camps, when you round the corner and see it, it really hits home.

Both well worth a visit.
