how many times has this been asked!?
Through evolution the chicken would have come first before obtaining the ability to lay eggs.
Thanks.

The chicken or the egg is a reference to the causality dilemma which arises from the expression "which came first, the chicken or the egg?". When used in reference to difficult problems, a chicken and egg problem is similar to a Catch 22 situation where something cannot happen until a second thing does, and the second thing cannot happen until the first does. For example, a person might have trouble finding a job without work experience, but to get work experience he/she must get a job.

Obviously the egg - it's common sense. The first creature that could be classed as a chicken through evolution was an egg! The creature that created this first creature to be called an egg, was not a chicken and therefore it was the egg!

It has been proven by scientists that the egg was first.
Evolution happens through survival of the fitest. The chicken' parents would have been different, but may have survived under different circumstances to others of their breed. In order for their children to survive better, they would have passed on the best characteristics. The mama creature lays an egg, from which hatches a brand new creature, in this case the chicken. So the egg must come first.

The egg I reckon. Kinda look at Jurassic Park. There wasn't a chicken before something happened and a chicken came out of the egg instead of something else.

How could the egg have been laid if the chicken wasn't there first? If the chicken was there it could lay multiple eggs.
So, Chicken first.
Think logically, an egg needs to be hatched out by another creature, it cannot do this itself, so if there was no chicken to sit on the egg, the egg would never have hatched!

The egg game first because, if you looked deeply into it, you will find out birds evolved from Dinosaurs, so gradually the dinosaurs began to look more and more lke brids, so you can imagine the egg that hatched into a chicken, (bassicly dinosaurs layed egg into dinosaur/chicken then that layed a egg into a checken) (this process took millions of years)
