2 possibilities I can think of.
1) They hate America and welcome our destruction
2) Mob mentality at work
Seeing people in the Middle East cheer for our destruction did not bother me as much as something else that happened the day after 911. 2 young men where I was working, both what you would deem normal American males were making bad jokes about the people who died in the Trade Center. The insensitivity of this bothers me until this day. Trust I could not let it pass without saying something. While I support the right to free speech, sometimes it just goes to far. There is such a thing as decorum.
latina_scorpio84: No weapons of mass destruction. I am so sick of this lie. Weapons of mass destruction have been found. 300 shells containing Sarin and Mustard gas have been found in Iraq. While I will concede that the samples were degraded, they are still by definition weapons of mass destruction. If you wish to debate whether they were usable I can support that, but the question of whether they were found and where is not in dispute, and is indeed a lie everytime it is posted by someone. You want us to believe that you are informed. Prove it, state facts, not lies!
hey_finny: While I think dropping the bombs on Japan was one of the most attrocious acts ever inflicted by man on man. Americans were not cheering death and destruction, they were cheering the surrender, and end of a war. America did warn the population of Japan that we intended to use the bomb. My question about Japan is after seeing the devasting power of the first bomb, why did the Japanese High Command make it necessary to drop the second? I am not indicting Japan, it is merely a curiousity I have always had. I did not see any such warning from Al Queda regarding the attack on the World Trade Center.

Israeli leaders hardly ever express remorse for deaths done by their soldiers and those soldiers rarely are punished or get court-martialled. Even now, the Israeli govt said that the deaths in Qana, were done by Israeli, but they were victims of Hezbollah. Umm, umm, umm, who killed them? Wouldn't they be the victims of who killed them? As for the arab world cheering, they're cheering because for them the Americans are the enemy as America has always supported Israel no matter what and even blindisided Israel's faults to a certain extent. This is why they cheer at American deaths because for them a country which has strongly supported their number one enemy Israel no matter what, is also their enemy. Also one thing I notice most entries is how Islam=Evil according to a large part of americans. I would advise them to read the koran and not go by the radicalist extremists and terrorist organisation cause most muslims are not supportive of them and most who have become supportive have become so only after seeing the US invade Iraq for reasons which were proved wrong and support Israel. Don't blame a whole community.

Well, according to what they know and feel, the people who died on 9/11 were not innocent. Nobody cheers the deaths of innocent people, but it depends on your definition of innocent.
The people cheering hated Israel for what they've done in the past 60 years (I'm not going to get into that here). They hate america for supporting and funding israel. They hate the american people because they know america is run by its people and all of those that died paid taxes. Therefore, they held the general american population responsible for the wrongs comitted by israel. THAT's why they were cheering.
(and I'd like to add that while Israeli officials express 'extreme remorse', they rarely apologize, and they never offer compensation to the families of the victims killed, and they very rarely, if ever, reprimand their soldiers for killing civilians, much less court martial them, and they don't change their policies)

Many fail to realize those people are like animals, and don't know whether they are coming or going. They don't know who their enemy is and who isn't, all they know is what they are told by their so called leaders. Now are you beginning to understand what is happening here in the U.S.? The same thing. People who do care are being told so many lies and bull to cover up our own governments corruption. Chaos is what gives them more and more power. Takes the spot light off of them. We are just as stupid as those people over there, only we are the ones running and butting in where we don't belong. Our presence over there is illegal, our dear pres went against all other countries, and is personally responsible for all the young men and women dying over there everyday, and the real enemy is right here, our government! The depths of the corruption go so deep people don't want to see it. They would probably vote for "The Bush Regime" again if they could, and if they didn't he'd just steal it again, and get away with it. And we're going to go teach other countries how to run their government! Yeah right, it's all about money.

Why are people posting about democrats and republicans? There is no mention whatsoever of them in her question.
I remember the Arab world cheering when 9-11 happened. They hate America for whatever reason that may be: it's the simple truth. Why else would they burn our flags and hold anti-American rallies? To think that it has something to do with democrats or republicans is down right moronic.

Your Words:
Even the Israelie (sic) leaders express extreme remorse for the accidental death of civilians in Lebanon.
Sure. 'extreme remorse' ? 'accidental death' ?
If you believe that, you are very gullible.

they cheered because they hate us. they hate us because we really are the bad guys in thier part of the world and have been for years before the 9-11 attacks. were the attacks something to cheer about? Of course not, for americans. But americans cheered longer and louder when truman dropped the bomb, which nearly wiped the civilian population of two seperate major cities, not just two towers. And don't say that's ok, because it's not. armies should fight armies and civilians should be fought in bars and irish sporting events. what's your point anyway?

My family and I were on vacation on 9/11 and we all sat in front of the tv watching all the events unfold. We were in shock, afraid for our safety, and mostly shocked. When the news showed the Arabs dancing in the streets celebrating, we got angry. I have not forgotten. Nor will I.
I think most people have. Most people think folks in the Middle East want peace but they do not want peace. They want to destroy every one and everything that doesn't conform to their religious views. Funny, the left fights tooth and nail against Americans who would try to impose a religious doctrine, but it's okay and even inspiring to the left that Islamic extremists want to destroy us all and take all our freedom.
Smacks of hypocrisy, doesn't it.

The world suffers from collective amnesia when it comes to terrorism, my dear friend... and specially when it comes to terrorist actions against Israel.
People actually have the audacity to say that Israel is an old fashion country, with old fashion people who bear the old fashion idea that it has the right to exist.
just take a look in the headlines here:
