By a man crouched down on his knees in the back of a small van parked up at the side of the road with his camera sticking out from a gap in the doors.
Is that a sad state of affairs, or ist it just me that gets p@ssed off.
What else p@sses you off ?

Okay, okay, okay. I am the first to agree with law enforcements, however, youre mind can wonder & that 5mph can be acheived without notice!
Duuno, just feel like easy targets!!
ONLY my opinion, thats all.

and I bet it was not a piece of road with a dangerous history either.
It so annoys me that the police go out just to use this to raise revenue with no respect to where is dangerous (i.e. around schools etc ..)

Hi speed limits are there for a reason. Please stick to them. As a Traffic Officer, people think that we are 'out to get motorists', this in fact isn't true, we are there to enforce the law. At the end of the day, it is my job to scrape up people off the road, which is not very nice at all, the worst thing is telling the families of their loss.
As for your speeding, MOST counties allow 10% plus 2, therefore, 30mph, you can have an extra 10% = 3mph, plus another two = 5mph. This added to your 30mph gives 35mph. You might have escaped it this time. Please don't let it happen again. Although most counties have this allowance, some do have a ZERO TOLLERANCE to speeding, whether one, two or three mph over the limit, you find you will get an endorsement.

Oops! It is a bit anal, but you have to draw the line somewhere!
We do need speed limits but they can be a pain when you get done... I got 3 points for doing 51 on a stretch of motorway with roadworks. I couldn't see any speed limit signs so assumed it was a 50 MPH limit, because that is what it was at a similar stretch near to my house. I saw the flash and couldn't understand it until I saw a sign about 100 yards up the road saying 40. I am sure there were no signs because I was looking out for them as I knew there were cameras coming up. I just paid it, I couldn't be doing with the hassle of appealing.
Hope you don't get a ticket!

Yep - you have.
If the limit is 30mph you should stick to it.
One of the things that pisses me off is people driving too fast in areas where there are people about.
Government research shows that a 1mph reduction in average speed will cut accident frequency by 5%.
Around ten people die every day on Britain’s roads. At least a third of deaths and injuries on the road are due to people driving too fast for the conditions. Two thirds of accidents where people are killed or seriously injured happen on roads with 30mph speed limits.
Yet 70% of drivers regularly break the speed limit on these roads, usually by about 5mph. Those few miles per hour may not seem like much to you when you’re inside the car, but for pedestrians or cyclists it makes a huge difference.
If you have a collision with a pedestrian or cyclist, those few miles per hour can be crucial. If you hit a pedestrian or cyclist at that extra speed, the force of the impact increases making injuries far more serious and death far more likely.
For example if you drive at 35mph:
* You’re less likely to avoid an accident as it takes longer to stop – even in good conditions it takes an extra 6.5 metres (over 21 feet) to stop than it would at 30mph
* The impact of a collision is 36% harder than it would be at 30mph
* You’re twice as likely to kill someone compared with 30mph.

So, why were you speeding, you knew it was a 30 limit, but you admit you were going too fast. It is a 30 limit for a reason, either road works, or passing through a built up area where there may be kids or animals around. Just because the others were speeding doesn't mean you should have been. If you get fined and lose points, just learn from it.

Very sad state of affairs, I got done a few weeks back doing 38mph in a 30 zone, it was at 5:30am and there was no other traffic on the road and it wasnt even a really built up area.
Speed cameras suck

You are supposed to get a Notice of Intent to Prosecute within 14 calendar days.
If you get done, then the other cars in your traffic line will, probably, also be done.

Well that's just rediculous. I didn't think they would waste their time unless you were doing more than 5 miles over the speed limit.

If they try and charge you make sure to get the calibration report for the speed gun, if it was not calibrated and proves to be out of calibration on the day they can't fine you.
