Even if you have put in the hours of sleep in the recent past, it is quite possible that you have not had enough DEEP sleep. Look closely at the circumstances of your sleeping: are you likely to be disturbed in the night? You may not even remember -- but being nearly roused in the middle of the night and then falling back to sleep is NOT as restful as sleeping thoroughly all night through. ANd if you are nearly roused several times in the night, your eight hours may be equivalent to only two or three hours of good sleep.
Even if there are no external factors that may disturb your sleep there are serious medical conditions that can: especially
(a) type 2 ("late onset") diabetes; and (b) sleep apnea. The first can be diagnosed quickly by your GP, although it may not be suspected before testing. The second involves special tests, and specialist doctors, but your GP is likely to be able to "guess" whether sleep apnea is likely, because certain body types are much more likely to manifest the problem (short, thick neck; small nose -- not exclusively, but commonly!) Both are sserious conditions and you would be wise to eliminate them from tje discussion by consulting your GP..

You should be more careful with what you are eating before you go to
sleep. Your organism might be oversolicited trying to digest the food.
And, as you know, you should not eat with (at least) two hours before
the night rest.
We need to sleep in order to allow to the "big brain" to "relax" itself.
Therefore, before going to bad, try to stop thinking at all your everyday
problems. Prepare your brain for a brake.
If you have big difficulties with your matinal wake-ups, then try to install,
in your bedroom, a siren similar to those used for signalising "air raids".
You will feel exactly like in Bosnia, or in Iraq, or in Lebanon, or in, why
not?, Israel...

well, maybe you didn't get enough sleep.
however, the more probable hypothesis would be that you're hungover from som wicked partying and drinking...so, this is natural.
Wake up and smell the ...errr....fourth cup of coffee!
and take a cold shower. THAT will definitely help!

Try having a long shower as cold as possible. Let the water run from your hair.

Why do you want to...? You are violating the natural sleep cycle, which in turn, endanger your physique and mental setup.
