Do I still deserve reparations, since I'm black, even if my ancestors were not (forced American) slaves?

I'm actually just wondering how reparations would work. I honestly don't think anyone really needs them.

Do you smart ones not read? I don't think reparations are necessary and I'm over slavery. In fact, my existence was barely touched by slavery. If slaves still existed today, I would not be a slave.

The point is, I want to know how reperations work, and although I agree with you eleventh answer, read the danged question before you answer.

OMG slavery was abolished years ago even before you were even born and you want reparations now because of something that happened even prior to your existance? Not only no but hell no. I hate people who are racist and all that but why do some people still expect some kind of special treatment because of their race. It is such B.S. Why don't you move foreward with the rest of the 21st century like the rest of us. The big bad world doesn't owe you a thing.

Well, you see when a lot of people were rounded up as slaves, who were they? The healthiest or the weakest? The healthiest right. So when they were taken away, who did all the tough jobs? Either the weaker ones, or nobody. So either way the weaker ones suffered too. Some of the strong ones were their brothers, some sons. So as soon as there was a sudden drop in the collective work force, everybody that remained behind suffered.

As soon as you can prove that your ancestors belonged to the area from where people were slaved, I don't know about the law but with me and with logic, you have a case.
Good Luck. You are a smart man, and I admire you for that.

Well if you somehow justify that as an entitlement, using similar criteria, then every Scot living outside Scotland is entitled to compensation for the Clearances... does that seem fair?
