BSA is Bovine Serum Albumine, a protein (albumine) of 582 aminoacids from bovine serum. It is used in molecular biology as a medium complement. In mammals the main function is for maintaining osmotic pressure between tissue compartments.

bovine serum albumin is the sticky part of blood. it's used to keep things stable. i use it to keep my enzyme stable at lower concentrations as it keeps the pH around biologic.
