Unfortunately we live in a sad world. It is very important for journalists to deliver the news without too much opinion. If you were watching CNN they tend to just bring you the news of the day in hourly segments with some documented stories to break up the bad news. My answer would be a question. Is bad news really that bad? It is like having a car that just broke down and the way to get it running again is by diagnosis which means running a systems check in all of the troubled areas. Journalism isn't much different. A good journalist will try to tell you the story from a neutral point of view so that the evidence will tell the story. In every conflict there are at least two points of view. I also try to avoid the shows that try to form a political opinion. Both parties do it because it does make a difference. Since Dick Cheney only watches Fox news, I personally think that is a good reason not to watch Fox news. Can you imagine if there was only one news channel? We need them all and we need them to tell the story just the way it is even if it hurts a few people along the way.

They can't not show the news or they will be accused of doctoring their reporting, so they have to show as much as they can in the time allowed. Unfortunately there is only bad news.
After Uni I travelled the world extensively, I saw some beautiful countries and some extraordinary people. The Middle East I travelled to as well. Later I was sent there by the people I worked for. If there was peace what an extraordinary tourist destination it would make once more. I made some friends within the christian minority. I'm glad you did'nt put up a news link or copy and paste. It's more interesting to actually hear the name places of where people are posting from, and hear their own experiences, than seeing more links and paste. It would be more interesting to hear peace and tolerance than yet more hate and blame apportioning.

Let me add. If u get a good movie and people say it is good u take ur own sweet time to watch. But if some one says that it is unlawful, too much of crime, etc etc then we tend to watch it. Take the recent issue in India. Most of the Christian organisations are campaigning against Da Vinci Code Movie but CD's are underway. Why is it like that. Is there really bad? No.
People prefer morbid or tend to be sadistic. If u ask a kid not to attempt an exercise s/he will do the same. This is human nature.

life is what we experience indoors the instantaneous. My life is the instantaneous because of fact it is accessible to me and it is sufficient for me and that i attempt to play my section as desirable i visit. the innovations won't have the means to contain each and each and each little thing it is happening indoors the universe solid or undesirable and then say, it is my life and that i'm liable for it and would desire to react to it. that's no longer the case and below no circumstances would be. stick to what your life particularly is, the instantaneous and what it is composed of and learn a attributable to stay with that and sense loose with that. Too in many circumstances we watch the recommendations and choose to speed off and connect the Calvary, abandoning what's mandatory persons indoors the instantaneous 2d. If such an occurrence as a massacre occupies your 2d, then and honestly then do you have the dazzling to regulate the priority. distinctive persons's destiny IS their destiny and we do not have any precise to argue with it one way or the different. playstation : yet television and the"recommendations" is undesirable and that i'd desire to stay far off from it. there is injustice happening everywhere and all of the time. only now one such party has been provided on your interest. do no longer hassle, immediately you will forget approximately and life will circulate back to "generic".

People are riveted by disaster, death, war, horror, destruction and the like. People can't help looking over at an accident on the side of the road. Look at our video games...same themes, for the most part. Gets the adrenalin pumping. Bad news sells, wins Pulitzers and so on!

I guess people are more likely to snap to and pay attention to bad news. I mean, if your country won a world championship, that may make you pay attention too, but the fact that some woman somewhere, for example, gave a birth to a healthy baby is not going to make you sit down in front of the TV and listen to the rest of the newscast. But if you hear that a mother starved her baby who is three months old... people tend to pay attention.

Because the dark side of the human Psyche needs to be fed as does the light side. It's all about equilibrium. Darkness and light. Unfortunately these days the dark side seems to be getting the bigger slice of the of the pie, because the news is almost all bad news these days.

Becuase hardly anything good happens in this World, and when it does people either already know or don't want to know.
Also people like bad new because it makes them feel better about their own lives and existance. ("Maybe it isn't so bad after all, I could be there / doing that etc..")

because bad news usually efects many people, like war and natural disasters. It is important to be informed about these things so that we can challenge our governments decision making processes.
