Yes, ONLY if Randy Johnson starts picking up wins, A-Rod not making errors, Matsui comes back and hit HR's, while Mussina and Wang continuing their all-star performance...with the help of the Boston Red Sox having Varitek injured for the rest of the season, and hopefully Ortiz and Manny get into a slump, then yes the Yankees will win the damn AL east pennant and will even win the 2006 world series..******** finally!

I think its really 50/50

You can't like the yankees rotation, mussina has been good, johnson not so much, wright gives you 5 innings on a good day, lidle is hardly a star, wang looks good, the bullpen is not exactly outstanding.

As for the lineup, its good, but abreu, was a poor move in my mind, its a short term solution, but you will need another three in the off-season, and 2 more next mid year.

Boston has a good lineup, not great, but its scoring a lot of runs, their defense (not american) is good, but the pitching is not heathly. Shilling and Becket are fine, lester looks good, but the other 2 slots are nothing.

The blue jays are not in this.

Normally i would say the yankees, but boston have a lot of games at home left, some against the yankees, and they are in september.

What hurts the red sox is trot nixon out (could be a blessing with mo pena) but 'tek really hurts with his presence.

I really like the fact the Sox made no real moves. They may not make the playoffs this year, but they will be the favourites next year. Shilling, Becket, Papelbon, Lester plus one more. Thats a rotation that can match the central.

I don't know who will win it this year, but it should be fun to watch.

They may spend some time shuffling back and forth with the Red Sox, but I eventually see the Yankees pulling away and winning the AL East by at least 5 games.

They may have a few days where the Red Sux stay tied or pull ahead by a game, but in the end the Spankmes win the division and the Red Sux end up out of the playoffs.

It will go back and forth. I'm a Yankee fan but, I think the Yankees need to just keep everyone healthy and not put anymore players on the DL.

It kills me to say this Fabio, but yes. Now that the Red Sox lost Varitek for 4-6 weeks, the Yankees will stay in first and win the division.........again......

no they will flip flop around with boston then about the last two weeks of the season they will pull away and put a rap on the al east. they will need to improve their pitching tho if they want to go deep in the playoffs.
we need another ring its been way too long

No I don't think they will but I think they will find a way to be in first at the end of the season when it really counts.
