Go to your local music store.. and ask the sales guy... what's the best guitar you can get.... for the least amount of money.
If you don't already play (and I know you don't or you would have already developed a preference)... it doesn't matter what you get as long as it plays "well". "Cut Your Teeth" on a student's guitar... and when you're ready... if you make the cut... then spend your money rewarding yourself for you effort and accomplishment.

Two brands stand out bar none: Gibson and Fender. Gibson, if tuned and amped right, offers a wickedly sensual bluesy sound (espicially if you use a pinky finger slide for a Delta blues sound).
Fender can do pretty much the same thing....but you can also make the necessary adjustments for that "stinging bluesy" 70s rock icon sound, too.
As far as colors go: both look hot with the classic "Sunburst" design and/or the black with slight gold center hue.
