In your experience, is it easier to learn mathematics in English or in your own language?

English is mostly accepted as language of instruction for Math in many countries right? But in real life, teachers use a combination of English and a particular regional vernacular.

I do believe that it is easier to learn and to teach mathematics and the sciences in the type of lingo the students are at home with. What do you think?

It all depends, my second language is English with Welsh being the first, I was taught maths in my native welsh languange and didn't find it difficult at all, the only time it becomes an issue is when you are trying to explain the terms to a non Welsh speaker and you can't remember the English word for it.

It will be the same whatever the native language will be.

However, math in itself is a Universal Language and it is the language that anyone that can understand as long as you can understand the formulas.

In my experience, everything is easier in your mother tongue.

For higher education, I believe the best thing is to learn terminology and expressions in both your own language and in English.

what u believe is true. It is easier to learn in ur own language. BUT...

All my schooling i did in my mother tongue. For graduation when i started using english it was a bit difficult for me...in mathematics. But then i got used to it. With other sciences it was the same thing.
there was a time when i found science in my mother tongue was difficult for me to understand.
when after some time when i started teching - in my mother tongue it was a bit difficult for me in the beginning. with practise again i got used to it.

What i feel is - to learn basics in mother tongue is easier.. it depends on what u r used to use. mother tongue or english.
