Job Seekers is less than £2,000

2006-08-01 23:17:36 · answer #1 · answered by KizzyB 2 · 0 0

Job-seekers Allowance is £45 per week and is paid every two weeks. After 6 months it's increased by about £15 when you start the New Deal programme.

But be warned, the New Deal I'm on is chaotic, disorganised, about 50% helpful, under-staffed and under-resourced :-(

I'm not saying it's like that everywhere, it's just my experience :-)

Well if you've got enough savings to ask a question like this then you've got enough that you don't need to be worrying about claiming state benefits such as job seekers allowance and housing benefit.....cheeky blighter!

A: £3000.00 - after that there is a notional tarriff income presumed by the Department of Work & Pensions so that for every £100.00 above the £3000 there is an assumed interest of £0.25p for every £100.00 up to a limit of £8000.00 by which time your Job-seekers allowance will be eliminated.

very little, it works on the basis thats the more savings you have the less you get. basically its impossible to save for a deposit for a house these days and look for a decent job because the government wont let you. my sister had enough for a small deposit and she was denied any assistance whatsoever because she had saved this money. so now she has to go nad get a crap job. idiots.

The limit is £2000, same for HB. Go onto the website and check for yourself. (jobcentre plus) By the way some people can't avoid signing on due to extreme bad luck and circumstances and are not all slobs as one person put it. Ignore the ignorance put about by tabloids.

Good luck

I would get a job, once people start signing on that is it, they become dependant on that money and it is harder to start working!
