Cats and Rabbits
would reside in fancy little houses
and be dressed in shoes and hats and trouses
in a world of my own

all the flowers
would have very extra special powers
they would sit and talk to me for hours
when im lonely in a world of my own

there'd be new birds
lots of nice and friendly howdy-do birds
everyone would have a dozen blue birds

within that world of my own
i could listen to a beddling brook
and hear a song that i could understand
i keep wishing
it could be that way
because my world would be a wonderland
This just about does it for me! Big up Alice!

I wish I was a little bug with hairs upon my tummy,
I'd climb into a pot of jam and make my tummy gummy!!

A very strange bird is the pelican,
His beak can hold more than his belly can!
He can hold in his beak enough food for the week
But I don't know how in the hell he can!!!

They wandered down the lane together, the night was full of stars,
and as they got to the farmyard gate he lifted down the bars,
she neither smiled nor thanked him, for she knew not how
For he was but a farmers boy, and she was a guernsey cow!!

Speed Bonnie Boat - the skye boat song. I love it, not sure why. My mum used to sing it when I was a kiddie...

Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward, the sailors cry
Carry the lad that is born to be king
Over the sea to Skye.
Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar
Thunder clouds rend the air
Baffled our foes stand on the shore
Follow they will not dare.

Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep
Ocean's a royal bed
Rocked in the deep, Flora will keep
Watch by your weary head.

Many's the lad fought on that day
Well the claymore could wield
When the night came, silently lay
Dead on Culloden's field.

Burned are our homes, exile and death
Scatter the loyal men
Yet, e'er the sword cool in the sheath
Charlie will come again.

Not exactly a happy song, but it brings back memories of happy times...

I love "You were Right" by Badly Drawn Boy and "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" by Frank Sinatra. They both remind me of the summer time (a particular summer a few years ago when I was just having a fantastic time in my life). Everytime I hear them they both put a smile on my face and I can feel all the stress of daily life just melt away as I reminice about that fantastic summer. (Got them both on my IPod - infact might listen to them now) Thank you for reminding me and bringing a little happinness into my otherwise mundane day! xxx

Any Elvis song, even if I never heard it before. I think I've heard them all now. One other song is called "proud to be an American" a tribute to those who died on the 9/11 tragedy. Although I'm not American, Elvis was and the 2 relate. Here are the words and a link to sing along:

If tomorrow all the things were gone
. . I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
. . with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
. . to be livin' here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom
. . And they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up
. . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

From the lakes of Minnesota
... To the hills of Tennessee
... Across the plains of Texas
... From sea to shining sea
... From Detroit down to Houston
... And New York to LA
Well there's pride in every American heart
And its time we stand and say..

That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I gladly stand up . . next to you and defend her still today
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA!

I can't remember by heart, but i'll look for the book later. I said it to my little boy (when he was little, almost 8)

It was about a little boy who was only 7 and looked up to his older brother, it said things to the effect of I can't do this or that or the other, but soon I will because I'll soon be 8.

I must find it, it's great.

This Charming Man by The Smiths:

Punctured bicycle
On a hillside desolate
Will nature make a man of me yet ?

When in this charming car
This charming man

Why pamper life's complexities
When the leather runs smooth
On the passenger seat ?

I would go out tonight
But I haven't got a stitch to wear
This man said "It's gruesome
That someone so handsome should care"

A jumped-up pantry boy
Who never knew his place
He said "return the ring"
He knows so much about these things
He knows so much about these things

I would go out tonight
But I haven't got a stitch to wear
This man said "It's gruesome
That someone so handsome should care"
Na, na-na, na-na, na-na, this charming man ...
Oh, na-na, na-na, na-na, this charming man ...

A jumped-up pantry boy
Who never knew his place
He said "return the ring"
He knows so much about these things
He knows so much about these things
He knows so much about these things

:) Lovely upbeat tune and great lyrics :)

lots- a few of my favourites are:
Somewhere over the rainbow/ what a wonderful world - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole RIP
I wish I was a punk rocker
When my mum sings (lol she sucks but it cheers me up)
When my friends sing
Do your thing -Basment Jaxx (I made a home movie of all my friends with that sound track on and whenever I hear that song I expect to hear them and the thoughts come back and it makes me smile, or even laugh)
When you really get into a song with some mates and you start singing it at the top of your voice really badly, even if its a crap song it makes you hysterical (oh, i pity the people with good singing voices who can't do that)
When my guitar teacher plays I smile (but I only smile because its "inpolite" not to - lol)

Poems, um On the Ning Nang Nong, but I can't remember the names of many poems...
