One would be a companies market value:
number of outstanding shares times current stock price. That seems to be the main barometer I've seen used. However, there are many ways to get a cos. exact net worth involving debt to equity, book value, etc.

If you are Enron, you lie your *** off, take one company that is making 150% profits, project it over 10 years at that rate and imflate your stock to show great growth.
Bottom line depending on your company, your debts against what your assets are and profits after all the bills are paid, then take that figure times 3- 5 years if you want to put it on the block and have a buyer interested. When they see your books, they'll determine what they feel is worth to them
