Yes they can. My friend used to have a snake while she was keeping a lot of hamsters.....her favorite one ended up in the snakes tummy!

All rodents are possible snake food. Even cappybaras which are four foot long as adults, are eaten by anacondas. My neighbor had a ball python get loose and eat her ferret. Rather suprising to her the ferret bell jingling as the snake moved.

Those guinea pigs could very well have been eaten by your snake. I had a brand new baby rat snake and put her in with my one year old rat snake. I was going to feed them, and put two pinky mice in front of my little rat snake, and an adult mouse for my semi-adult rat snake, and left the room. Ten minutes later I returned and saw my one year old rat snake with two tiny lumps in it. My six inch long pencil thin rat snake had swallowed the adult mouse. I had heard of rat snakes having stretchy skin, but there must have been a half inch of skin between all the scales. It's entirely possible that your guinea pigs were eaten. I would suggest searching the guinea pig cage thoroughly. If the guinea pigs couldn't fit through the bars, that snake couldn't have eaten them and slip back out through the bars for at least a couple days while he's digesting, unless the cage has a removable top and it was dislodged by him.

Go to ebay or someplace and type in snake trap, and I suggest you use one. I've lost several snakes and caught all of them but one in those things. I prefer the glue traps. It comes off with vegetable oil. The one I found crawled into my bed. It was winter, and I was the hot spot in a house at 68 degrees fahrenheit.
Good hunting.

Depends on what type of snake. It has most likely ate the guinea pigs I would let a whole heck of a lot of rats and guinea pigs in your house then you are labble to see the snake come out and then you can catch it.Just keep an eye on the rodents

Good Luck!

That's very sad, because captive snakes can be fed small mammals like large rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, kittens, and the like. I have a boa who eats large live rats about the size of guinea pigs.

Some snakes do eat guinea pigs, but as others have already stated, your snake is far too small to eat anything that size.

Yes, guinea pigs are an ideal food source for medium/large snakes, you can actually get frozen guinea pigs for feeders... however at 50 cm long there is absolutely NO way it could eat a guinea pig...

At 50 cm long your snake is not going to eat a full grown guinea pig. My retics don't start 1/2 pound rabbits until 5 feet and a full grown GP is much bigger than a baby rabbit.

50 centimeters?? OH yes, if the snake got near the guinea pigs they became snake food.

Generally, though, a snake can't/won't eat anything that it can't fit into its expandable jaw. I don't think it'd hesitate to kill it in the beginning in any case.

yes, captive snakes can and would eat guinea pigs...but...hmm....50 cm is not very long, but its girth is more imporant to know what it can eat. what kind of snake was it?
