I have never gotten a tattoo. I don't understand why so many people think they are cool. Do you like them, hate them? What do you think your tattoo will look like when you're old and wrinkled, say in your 60's or 70's?

Now that I'm older, I'm not as fascinated with them. When I got my first one, a lizard on my hip, I didn't think about the future. Like, will it turn into a snake if I ever get pregnant? But, everyone is entitled to young and dumb when they are young and dumb. Now I just tack it onto experience.

This is such a typical view of someone who doesn't have any tattoos! Do you know how many times I've heard that exact question about how it's going to look when you're old. You don't like tattoos b/c you don't understand them. A tattoo is not some cool fad where everyone is jumping in saying "I want one!" Take the time to ask someone with a tattoo about it and most of the time, it has a meaning to it. I have two tattoos, and b/c of your view, I don't even want to share my reasoning with you b/c it is very personal, and I don't think you'd understand it with your viewpoint.

One of my tattoos I've had for 6 years. It was beautiful when I had it done, and it still is. The other tattoo is only about 6 months old, but it has a lot of meaning for me, and I've never spent one day regretting my tats!

Wake up. You are only young once. When you get older, you'll think about this a lot more. Who gives a crap about how it's going to look when you're 70?? At least your grandkids will know that you were young once. ha. And it gives you the opportunity to share the meaning behind your tattoo. And the other thing is, when you are 70, the least of your physical worries is going to be a wrinkly tattoo....and you can bet on that.

Mine like some people in the military get tattoos representing places he have been or things that we have done.

I think when I do hit 60 and I am walking down the beach people are going to be able to see my tattoos and learn things about me. Like for instance I have an Airborne tattoo that even when I am 60 will prob bring me back to the days of when I was making jumps.

I think its a great way to express yourself and basically show people who you are without ever having to say a word.

I think tattoos are MAD. Especially on guys. I got my 1st tat a couple of months ago of a tribal butterfly on my lower back and i love it. The pain, there isn't any, it's mind over matter. If i was a guy I'd be covered. it's addictive. When ya 60 I'll still look at it and love it cos you can look at it and say that's when i was 18. But do think hard b4 u get one, it's there forever. Don't let anyone else decide for you cos u have to live with it, but I'm all for it.

I think they can be sexy on men, young men who are not wrinkly yet. Once it started to wrinkle, as I have seen on some older bikers at the bar I work at, it would be the exact opposite of sexy. On women they can be sexy in some certain areas when done well but same thing, gross later. I do not like tattoos on women's arms and legs either. Saying this I have a small tattoo of a flower on my middle finger because I thought it would be funny to show people when they asked to see my tattoos...still funny at times but I'd rather not have it.

Everyone has their own opinion, but I personally love getting tattoos. I only have three right now but if I had more body (I am only about 100 lbs) and more money I would get one every day. I don't worry about what they will look like when I'm older cause by that point in my life I really wont be out in a bikini or short shorts or whatever..

I have 2 tattoo's that i got not because I thought it was cool but to mark significant times in my life in a permanent way. I think those who get them solely for the "coolness' of it are idiots and are not thinking of what they will become of them later in life. I look forward to explaining mine when I become old to my grandchildren and I wear them as a living tribute to my life, not as a fashion statement.

Disgustingly low class! My short and honest opinion. Why?

1. They always end up looking disgusting later.
2. It's the worst on women- so gay and/or masculine!
3. On a guy- just shows he's a bum. Simple as that.
4. I've heard they hurt... why inflict your body pain for nothing?
5. Usually, tatoos are for desperately lame people who are making a pathetically little attempt at trying to be cool.
6. Some say it's to "express" themselves by having "art on their body" but I say ,"Why do the art on your body? Why not simply on paper?"
7. It's so vulgar!!
8. It's also usually done out of peer pressure...

So, I would say to these people to grow up and try to learn how to live right. Have respect for yourself; your body especially. Nature already did a good job- no need to ruin it with disgusting tatoos or metal pierced in it.

Thank you for asking the question and reading my answer to it!
