All the three responses generated so far reveal the deep-rooted prejudice about masturbation. In fact, in a book published sometime in the 40s titled 'Celibacy is Life, Loss of Semen is Death' it was claimed that even if you were to masturbate for once you would be rendered impotent. But as further research took place it was reassuring to find that not only it is not so but masturbation widely prevails even in the animal world.The growing fears of sexually transmitted diseases like syphilis,AIDS etc.acted as a persuasive force to resort to masturbation for sexual gratification rather than sex.The fear of pregnancy in case of illicit sex led to increase in this practice among girls also. In the case of a pregnant wife the considerate husband would prefer to this practice to satisfy his urge by having recourse to this practice. Devoted husbands whose wives were away would rather do it than be unfaithful to their beloveds. However, sex is preferably an act between two heterosexual individuals. This automatically puts a check on its indulgence since it requires two to the game. Masturbation being a single person activity there is always a danger of overindulgence leading to a deleterius effect on health.It is also likely to lead to early sexual awakening in childlren which may also have an adverse effect on his future sex life.

haha i agree with kensithan. if people do it, then it only makes sense that they like it, right? and how does this concern you, unless you wanna try it out for yourself or already does it but wants to know whether most people do it (insecure, maybe?)

i do, & i love it, i actually get more orgasms when doing it, more than when i have sex. It's healthy,clean & no one has fallen pregnant, or had STD's from doing it.
